SUMMARY
What are the similarities and differences between INVEGA SUSTENNA, INVEGA TRINZA, and INVEGA HAFYERA?
INVEGA SUSTENNA, INVEGA TRINZA, and INVEGA HAFYERA are long-acting antipsychotic suspensions given as injections by your healthcare provider into the muscle (intramuscularly).1-3
They each have the same ingredient, paliperidone palmitate, which your body will metabolize or break down over time into the active medication, paliperidone. However, each product is designed differently, so that the active medication is gradually released into the body over different periods of time.
- INVEGA SUSTENNA is gradually released into the body over 1 month after receiving 2 starting doses, administered 1 week apart, into the muscle of the upper arm (deltoid). The next monthly doses are administered in the muscle of the upper arm (deltoid) or buttocks (gluteal).1
- INVEGA TRINZA is gradually released into the body over 3 months and is administered into the muscle of the upper arm (deltoid) or buttocks (gluteal) after being adequately treated with INVEGA SUSTENNA for at least 4 months.2
- INVEGA HAFYERA is gradually released into the body over 6 months and is administered only in the muscle of the buttocks (gluteal) after being adequately treated with INVEGA SUSTENNA for at least 4 months or INVEGA TRINZA for one 3-month cycle.3
INVEGA SUSTENNA, INVEGA TRINZA, and INVEGA HAFYERA may cause serious side effects, including1-3:
- Increased risk of death in elderly people who are confused, have memory loss and have lost touch with reality (dementia-related psychosis). INVEGA SUSTENNA, INVEGA TRINZA, and INVEGA HAFYERA is not indicated for the treatment of people with dementia-related psychosis.
The most common side effects of INVEGA SUSTENNA include1:
- injection site reactions
- sleepiness or drowsiness
- dizziness
- feeling restless or needing to be constantly moving
- abnormal muscle movements, including tremor (shaking), shuffling walk, uncontrolled involuntary movements, and abnormal movements of your eyes.
The most common side effects of INVEGA TRINZA include2:
- injection site reactions
- weight gain
- headache
- upper respiratory tract infections
- feeling restless or difficulty sitting still
- slow movements
- tremors (shaking)
- stiffness
- shuffling walk
The most common side effects of INVEGA HAFYERA include3:
- upper respiratory tract infections
- tremors
- headache
- weight gain
- shuffling walk
- slow movements
- feeling restless or difficultly sitting still
- injection site reactions
- stiffness
