summary
How long does it take INVEGA TRINZA to leave my body?
- After receiving an injection of INVEGA TRINZA, the release of the drug starts as early as day 1 and lasts as long as 18 months.1
- Half-life is defined as the time it takes for 50% of the drug to be removed from the body. After 5 half-lives (calculated by multiplying the half-life value by 5), about 97% of the drug should be removed from the body.
- The median (“middle”) apparent half-life of paliperidone, the active ingredient in INVEGA TRINZA, following administration over the dose range of 273-819 mg ranged from 84-95 days for deltoid injections and 118-139 days for gluteal injections.1
- The half-life for an individual may not fall exactly within this range. Since these are median values, the half-life may be longer or shorter.
- The median is the half-way point in the range, so 50% of individuals will have half-lives longer than the median and 50% will have half-lives shorter than the median.
- The time it takes for the drug to be fully removed from the body depends on the dose you are taking. The higher the dose, the longer it will take for drug removal. The time also depends on various other factors, including the body’s ability to remove the drug. Since this is a complex answer that depends on many specific patient factors and can vary from one person to another, we recommend that you share any concerns with your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
